Helen Fielding gave the career girl new reason to include books in her shopping list when Bridget Jones's Diary was published. But there are other popular Chick Lit authors, such as Brits Marian Keyes and Sophie Kinsella, and American writers Jennifer Wiener, Melissa Bank, and the hugely popular Candace Bushnell of Sex and the City fame. In the Philippines, we already have several publishing companies that have joined the Chick Lit bandwagon, and have been slowly churning out undeniably girl-targeted titles. Summit, Psicom, Fox and even Precious Pages have all created their Chick Lit lines, with some of them--Fox's Vixen and Precious Pages' Modern Girl--written in colloquial Filipino, for that funky edge.
