Vanilla Cupcake Bakery: Glorietta's newest cupcake boutique

Right smack in the middle of the newly-renovated Glorietta, between toy and shoe stores, is this charming little store that caught my eye as soon as I stepped into the mall.  The fact that it was during the Christmas rush made the store even more attractive, with its pastel-pretty look and girly ambiance.

I'm a big Cupcakes by Sonja fan, and I was kinda wary about this new place.  Didn't think it would even dare to meet Sonja standards.  Well, it didn't, completely, but it's still all good.

The red velvet cupcakes were actually lighter versions of Sonja's, and the vanilla cupcake was actually better than the plain old ones at the Serendra store.  These were the only two I tried--the others might have been better.

One thing VCB has over CBS is design, like these cute little things (don't really know what they are):

And the huge, fabulous pink retro ref that is just too stylish for words:

Plus the perfect packaging that made up in form what it lacked in function:

Overall, it's still a great little store where you'd want to spend an afternoon with friends, after shopping at the new Glorietta wing.  Price-wise, it's at par with Cupcakes by Sonja.  On taste level, Sonja's got the upper hand but VCB can still catch up--and I sure hope it does.

So I was walking down Serendra last night, and, as always, I was drawn to this cute little shop with the picture window.

I went in and saw exactly what I expected--trays of colorful cupcakes, each one begging to be bought and tasted.
And then there were these.  I had no willpower.  A quick search said each one has 202 calories, but I don't really believe it.  I think it's more like 1,000.  But each bite was pure joy.
Sure, I'll probably run around BHS for three hours straight just to burn all those calories, but what the heck.  Savor each bite, savor each moment, no regrets.  Life is short, have a cupcake.
